Team Survivor Newsletter November 2023

Happy November, hope everyone had a great Halloween! Just seven months until we return to Lake Tahoe for another lap around the lake. While I love to ride my bike, train and challenge myself, this year I am thinking more about fundraising and the impact it makes on blood cancer patients and their families. There is so much fear and uncertainty that comes with a cancer diagnosis. I have now had two ‘you have cancer‘ discussions with my oncologist. Although frightening, there is some peace of mind knowing there is a proven treatment for my Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma, even though it comes with risk and side effects. An important component of my current treatment protocol is Rituxan, an FDA-approved monoclonal antibody that was developed by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, by people like you who join teams like Team Survivor and raise money. Think of what will be available for new blood cancer patients next year, and in 10 years because of the important research being funded by the donations we raise. Just a personal note of thanks for signing up with Team Survivor to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

  • $14,605 – Donations received for 2024 season
  • $97,569 – Donations needed to hit $1,000,000

Team Survivor Sponsorships available for 2 more months!

If you’re looking for a way to maximize your fundraising in 2024, consider pursuing a Team Survivor Sponsorship. The program is very straight forward; any company that donates $5,000 or more to Team Survivor by the end of 2023 will have their logo added to the back of next year’s jersey. The donation goes directly to your personal fundraising account so this will give you a big jump for the year.

The jersey shown here is just an example to show sponsor logos, the 2024 TS jersey is much cooler than this!

October Team Rides

There was only one scheduled team ride in October but the timing was perfect – it was a beautiful day and we had a great group to ride with! I’m not able to safely be around other people two weeks after treatments because my immune system is at its low but I’ll continue to schedule Saturday rides when I can!

Chatfield Reservoir

Thanks again for all the emails, texts, calls, gifts, visits and food delivery over the past month. I am grateful. I’ve completed 2 of the 6 scheduled treatments so will hopefully be done in mid-January.

See you soon!
