Team Survivor Newsletter April 2023

In 60 days we will be in Lake Tahoe riding in America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride! This is the most important two months of the season. It’s time to hit and exceed your fundraising goals and get ready to ride! I wanted to take a moment to thank each of you for your contributions to the team both on and off the bike. We have an amazing family and I am so proud to be on this journey with each of you! Thank you for signing up with Team Survivor to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Training

Even though the snow prevented us from riding last week, we were lucky to have rides every other Saturday in February and March. Remember last year we were only able to ride a few times during February and March (and those were more skating than riding). For those who have joined us on Saturdays, we have built up a nice base of miles on flat routes and we’ll start climbing next week. If the weather cooperates we have just 9 training rides until we go to Lake Tahoe so make every week count to have the best ride possible in June. This is also a good time to think about what distance you want to ride. Remember there are 30, 70 and 100-mile options. At Team Survivor, we don’t don’t care how far you ride, we care about how much money you raise for this cause that connects us all. I’ll have a few ride options on some Saturdays moving forward so you can pick your training ride based on how many miles you’re planning to ride in Tahoe. Here are the numbers through 8 weeks of training:

  • 224 Miles
  • 8993 feet of climbing
  • 47 coffees
  • 3 dozen donuts
  • 29 pancakes
  • 14 enchiladas
  • 1 Ethel visit
April Schedule
  • April 1st – Morrison Garrison Loop
  • April 8th – Deer Creek (joint ride with Space Cowboys)
  • April 15th – Lookout Mountain
  • April 23rd – Left Hand Canyon
  • April 30th – High Grade Road

Coming in May – Carter Lake, Mestaa’ėhehe Mountain and Elephant Rock!

Dead Cat Bounce

We had a great turnout for our Dead Cat Bounce Fundraiser at the Clock Tower Grill in Lone Tree. Thanks again to all of our teammates who showed up to support us! Diena and Meli did a great job collecting donations and selling DCB t-shirts! Special thanks to Rance McDougald for his leadership with the band – lots of blood, sweat and tears behind the scenes to make this happen!

Push play!
I wish Rance enjoyed this. . .
