Team Survivor Newsletter June 2023

Let’s GO to Ta-HOE!

We made it! Months of training and fundraising has led us to this week when we will all travel to Lake Tahoe to ride in America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride. Congratulations to each of you for making this journey – I can’t wait to celebrate with you this weekend! Thank you for signing up with Team Survivor to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Mission Accomplished!

Congratulations to everyone on the team for helping us hit our $100,000 goal. As mentioned at our Send Off Celebration we will be funding a research portfolio for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Thanks for your continued commitment to this important mission!

LAKE TAHOE WEEKEND REMINDERS

For those in the area, we’ll be meeting at the In n Out Burger in Carson City around 1:30 on Friday afternoon

You must have ID to pick up your ride packet at Harvey’s either on Friday 2:00 – 5:00 or Saturday 10:00 – 1:00

Bike pickup through TriBike transport is Friday between 2:00 – 6:00 pm

On Saturday morning we are meeting just south of Harvey’s at the corner of Stateline and Lake Tahoe Blvd at 9:30 to do a short warm up ride to Emerald Bay

Make a plan for breakfast on Sunday. The lobby Starbucks will be packed so I would recommend grabbing something at the grocery store before Sunday

On Saturday night, let’s meet in the lobby of Harvey’s at 5:15 where we’ll walk over to the rally and dinner as a team.

On Sunday morning, we meet at 5:45 am behind Harvey’s for a quick mission moment and picture before we ride over to the start line

Make sure to bring all the clothes you need for the ride. It looks like we’ll have a nice day but it will be cold at 5:45 am. The forecast says it will be cloudy in the morning with rain possible in the afternoon. Joe Bougher has volunteered to be on the course so we are hoping to have a place to drop some layers at Emerald Bay and at lunch (not confirmed so assume you’re on your own!).

Dress Code for the weekend – pink jerseys for Saturday warm up, Dead Cat Bounce t-shirts Saturday at rally, new green jerseys for Sunday ride

2024

As announced at our Send Off, 2024 will be the last year for Team Survivor. When I started the team, my goal was to ride until we raised $1,000,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. That is now within reach but we’ll need a BIG year in 2024! Let’s blow it out with a big team and crush a million next year! Please come back next year and let’s recruit all those people who have said they’ll ride with us “one of these years.” I’ll be in touch shortly after Tahoe with a request for you to join us for one last very special year. Don’t miss it!
