Team Survivor Newsletter November 2021

Happy Thanksgiving, and please pass the mashed potatoes. Now we can go around the table and tell each other what we are thankful for. I’m so thankful to each member of this amazing team for all you’ve done for blood cancer patients this year. All of your hard work and dedication helped Team Survivor surpass our goal and raise $133,000 benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society this year. I’m also thankful for the ongoing recoveries of several teammates injured over the last year – Lisa, Al, Diena, Kayla, Gregg and Barb. On this holiday, I want to make sure you know how much you’re appreciated as a member of our team and how much I value your time, participation and support! Happy Thanksgiving – have a wonderful holiday with your family and loved ones!

A reminder that we can recruit riders and fundraisers from anywhere in the country. Think about people you would you like to invite to join us. Also, remember that the holidays are a great time to fundraise so it’s never too early to start!

2022 Plans

Believe it or not, we are just a few months away from 2022. I wanted to share some important dates so you can mark your calendars now.

January 26th – Team Survivor Kickoff

We are planning a special kickoff event for Team Survivor. Mark your calendar now and plan to join us on January 26th at 5:30 pm – more details to follow!

February 5th – First training for new team members

We are excited to welcome some new recruits in 2022! For our new teammates or for anyone who hasn’t ridden for awhile, we have plans and routes for all riders to make sure everyone has a great season! In the meantime, Team Survivor will continue to ride every Saturday, weather permitting.

May 19th – Team Survivor Send Off

We’ll get together for dinner and awards to celebrate the season as we get ready to travel to Lake Tahoe for America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride!

Meet Lisa Phinney

I’m delighted to introduce you to Lisa Phinney, Campaign Development Manager for Team In Training. Lisa will be helping support Team Survivor with our fundraising goals this season. She is an amazing resource and motivated to move the mission forward! Her comments are below.

Hi team! I am the  new CDM for the Mountain and Desert regions of LLS and is here to guide Team Survivor in reaching your fundraising goal. I moved to Park City, UT from Boston, Ma in 1996 and joined the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in November of 2020. I started out as the Man & Woman of the Year Manager and successfully recruited and coached the Man of the Year champion in raising over $64,000! I joined Team In Training in July of 2021 and could not be happier! For years I ran the Moab Half Marathon and my brother is an avid cyclist for the Pan-Mass Challenge. I love combining fundraising goals with athletic goals and can’t wait to help you along this journey. We all know someone with a cancer connection. For me, I am here for my late mom and my brother who survived cancer. I’m here for the kids who should not go through cancer or cancer treatments. As of August 26th, I’m here for my mother in law who was just diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. What you are all doing matters so much!  Thank you and I can’t wait to meet you all!
