Team Survivor Newsletter August 2019

Here at Team Survivor Headquarters, we are singing all the hits this summer! It is just 10 months until Team Survivor arrives at America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride in Lake Tahoe next June. In the meantime, we have a lot of work to do – fundraising and recruiting and training. . .oh my! Thank you for signing up to Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

ABR (Always Be Recruiting) – as of today, we have 28 registered Team Survivor teammates but we need more! Our goal is 40 teammates to ensure we hit $100,000 to fund a blood cancer research portfolio. Be thinking of friends or alumni in your circle that might like to join us for this unforgettable experience. Here is the registration information for you to share: https://registration.teamintraining.org/event-zip-search/80210/event-selected/143137 – select America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride and join Team Survivor.

We’re working on an exciting lab tour for registered teammates. Many more details to follow, but please mark your calendars now and plan to join us!
Thursday, May 28, 2020 – Team Survivor Send Off – one final celebration of our season of fundraising and training before we head to Lake Tahoe! Working to host this with Primal again next year.

FUNDRAISING – although we’re 10 months away from our deadline, it’s never too early to start fundraising. In fact, we have already raised over $5,000 as we keep our sights on hitting $100,000 for the 3rd consecutive year! There are teammates who already have fundraisers on the calendar and have published social media posts asking for donations. The key to achieving our goal is starting early! This year’s fundraising tracker is the tower of barad dur from Lord of the Rings.

Saturday Espress(o) Rides – July– we’re having a great time riding on Saturdays. This month we welcomed Mary Salsich back – it was so great to see her back on the bike as she continues her recovery! Please come when you can and invite friends that might be good candidates to join Team Survivor in 2020! In August we have plans for Squaw Pass, Deer Creek, and Mt. Evans! Come get ’em while they’re hot!

Welcome back, Mary!

LLS Enterprise Sales Meeting – I was honored to be one of a handful of volunteers invited to attend LLS’s national meeting in Orlando in July. This amazing national leadership team is doing life saving work as they transform and reimagine the Team In Training campaign, focused on fundraising and growth! Several LLS resources who have been key in growing other LLS campaigns such as Light the Night are now focused on Team in Training so look for more exciting changes. It was so great to spend time with the Rocky Mountain team as well as Dr Lou DeGennaro, President & CEO of LLS and Ryan Hatcher, VP of Team in Training!

We were the first. We are the best. We will always be the team. GO TEAM!

See you soon – Enjoy the ride!
